A Perinatal Mental-Health and Matrescence Workshop Series

The "Becoming & Belonging" workshop series, founded by Hannah Muir of Deep End Counselling, provides trauma-informed, community-based support for new and expectant parents in Alice Springs. The program addresses matrescence and perinatal wellbeing through 10 weekly sessions, focusing on community connection, identity shifts, and emotional regulation.

This ten part, weekly program is designed for parents or pregnant people living in Central Australia.

We spend so much time preparing our bodies and our homes for new babies. We are poked, prodded, overwhelmed with choices and expected to remember every little thing. We are scared by flippant comments by hospital staff, agonising late into the night about “what it all means”. Even if we have the “dream” experience- an easy pregnancy, our ideal birth and our breastfeeding journey is seamless, becoming a parent is a hugely emotional upheaval and transformation.

This course is for those who have wondered why the experience of motherhood doesn't fit what we had expected. It’s for those that are in the thick of it and those that still have questions or feelings left unanswered. Its for those who are ok, those who want to connect and anyone in between.

You don’t need to be struggling to attend, theres a space for all perspectives and questions here.
